Jetty provides Roskilde Festival with smooth communication

Roskilde Festival is Scandinavia’s largest music festival and one of Europe’s most iconic events. Since 2012, the festival has used Jetty to enable smooth and transparent communication – both internally and externally.

To keep together one of Europe’s most complex festivals, a powerful, flexible, and reliable communication tool is needed. Since Roskilde Festival started using Jetty as a central hub, it has never experienced a crash or interruption during the festival. In addition, the Roskilde team highlights Jetty’s personal and quick support as a major advantage.

– Our history is special because we are one of the very first Jetty users. We used the first version for many years and have now switched to JettyX, says Lars Liliengren, Head of Production at Roskilde Festival.

JettyX is today a shared tool for the production team, technicians, marketing, press, media, security, and thousands of volunteers who use the system to manage everything from production plans and technical information to travel plans and safety routines.

– The amazing thing is that Jetty makes it possible to give each user exactly the information they need – no more, no less. It saves time and creates security, and I notice it in all the questions I no longer have to answer, says Lars.

During 3.5 intense days, Roskilde Festival gathers 130,000 participants – from visitors with full festival passes and day tickets to media, companies, and volunteers. Nearly 28,000 volunteers help make the festival possible, of which about 1,000 work year-round.

– There are incredibly many people involved – which really requires planning and structure. For a short time, we used homemade solutions – Excel and long documents. But we quickly realized that it didn’t work. We are real Jetty fans at Roskilde Festival – it’s easy to work with, reliable, and super efficient for everyone involved, he says.

Could Roskilde Festival imagine carrying out the festival without Jetty?

– No! That would be very difficult. Jetty is a natural part of our organization. The tool creates security and protects users from information stress. Today, the system covers virtually 100 percent of our needs, concludes Lars.
